Kathy MacMillan is an award-winning author, speaker, and literacy advocate. She is the author of over twenty books for children and young adults, including the critically acclaimed middle grade novel Sword and Verse. Her books have been honored with numerous awards, including the International Literacy Association’s Children’s and Young Adult Book Award, the American Library Association’s Schneider Family Book Award, and the International Reading Association’s Children’s Choice Award. Kathy is passionate about helping young people find their voices and become confident readers and writers. She has presented at conferences and schools around the world, and she is a frequent guest on radio and television programs. She is also the founder of the literacy organization, The Reading Tub, which provides resources and support to families and educators. Kathy is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Maryland. She lives in Maryland with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
