Ransom Riggs
Ransom Riggs is an American author best known for his New York Times bestselling novel Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. He was born in Maryland in 1979 and grew up in Florida. He attended Kenyon College and graduated with a degree in English literature. After college, he worked as a film editor and wrote several screenplays before turning to writing novels.
Riggs' debut novel, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, was published in 2011 and was an instant success. The novel follows the story of a sixteen-year-old boy named Jacob who discovers a mysterious island off the coast of Wales where he meets a group of peculiar children with extraordinary abilities. The novel was adapted into a major motion picture in 2016.
Riggs has since written two sequels to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Hollow City and Library of Souls, as well as a companion novel, Tales of the Peculiar. He has also written a standalone novel, A Map of Days, which is set in an alternate version of America.
Riggs is an avid photographer and collector of vintage photographs, which he often uses as inspiration for his stories. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
