L. Frank Baum
L. Frank Baum (1856-1919) was an American author, best known for writing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He was born in Chittenango, New York, and was the seventh of nine children. He was a prolific writer, having written over 60 books, including 14 Oz books. He was also a playwright, actor, and publisher.
Baum was a pioneer in the fantasy genre, and his books were some of the first to feature a female protagonist. He was also one of the first authors to use the term "fairy tale" in his writing. His books were filled with vivid descriptions of magical lands and creatures, and he often used allegory to make social and political points.
