Jon Mcgregor

Jon McGregor is an English novelist and short story writer. He is best known for his novels, including If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things, So Many Ways to Begin, and Reservoir 13. He has also written several collections of short stories, including This Isn't the Sort of Thing That Happens to Someone Like You and The Reservoir Tapes. McGregor was born in 1976 in Bermuda and grew up in Nottingham, England. He studied English at the University of East Anglia and later worked as a teacher and a bookseller. His first novel, If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things, was published in 2002 and was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. His second novel, So Many Ways to Begin, was published in 2006 and was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize. McGregor's writing is often praised for its lyrical prose and its exploration of the everyday lives of ordinary people. He has been described as a "master of the short story" and his work has been compared to that of Alice Munro and Raymond Carver. He has won several awards for his writing, including the Betty Trask Prize, the Somerset Maugham Award, and the International Dublin Literary Award.
