Pete Souza is an American photographer and photojournalist. He served as the Chief Official White House Photographer for President Barack Obama and the Director of the White House Photography Office. Souza has also worked as a freelance photographer for National Geographic and as an assistant professor of photojournalism at Ohio University. He has published several books of photography, including Obama: An Intimate Portrait and Shade: A Tale of Two Presidents. Souza has been widely praised for his work, receiving numerous awards and honors, including the National Press Photographers Association's Joseph A. Sprague Memorial Award.
