David Shimer is an American journalist and author. He is a contributing writer for The New Yorker and a former staff writer for The Washington Post. He is the author of Rigged: America, Russia, and One Hundred Years of Covert Electoral Interference, which was published in 2020. Shimer has also written for The Atlantic, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. He is a graduate of Yale University and the London School of Economics. Shimer is a frequent commentator on foreign policy and national security issues, and his work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the National Magazine Award for Reporting.
