Jacques Lacan
Jacques Lacan (1901-1981) was a French psychoanalyst and psychiatrist who developed a unique approach to psychoanalysis. He is best known for his theories of the unconscious, the mirror stage, and the symbolic order. He argued that the unconscious is structured like a language, and that the symbolic order is the basis of all human experience. He also argued that the unconscious is the source of our desires and anxieties. His work has had a major influence on post-structuralist thought, and his ideas are still widely discussed in the fields of psychology, philosophy, and literary criticism.
