Lynda La Plante is an English author, screenwriter, and producer. She is best known for her crime fiction novels, which have been adapted into popular television series such as Prime Suspect and Widows. La Plante began her career as an actress before turning to writing in the late 1970s. She has since written over 20 novels, as well as numerous television scripts and films. La Plante has won numerous awards for her work, including a BAFTA for Best Drama Series for Prime Suspect. She is also the founder of the production company, La Plante Productions, which has produced a number of successful television series. La Plante continues to write and produce, and is an inspiration to aspiring writers and producers.
