Patricia Highsmith
Patricia Highsmith (1921-1995) was an American novelist and short story writer, best known for her psychological thrillers, including her series of five novels featuring the character Tom Ripley. Her writing explored the psychological complexities of identity, class, gender, and sexuality. Highsmith wrote 22 novels, as well as numerous short stories, plays, and screenplays. Her works have been adapted into numerous films, including Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train and The Talented Mr. Ripley. Highsmith was a recipient of the O. Henry Award and the Edgar Award, and was inducted into the Crime Writers' Association Hall of Fame. Her works continue to be widely read and adapted today.
