Bruno Schulz

Bruno Schulz (1892-1942) was a Polish writer, painter, and art teacher. He is best known for his two collections of short stories, The Street of Crocodiles (1934) and Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass (1937). His works are renowned for their surrealist, dreamlike quality, and their exploration of Jewish identity in the face of the Holocaust. Schulz was killed by a Nazi officer in 1942, but his legacy lives on in his works, which have been translated into numerous languages and adapted into films and plays. His influence on modern literature is undeniable.
