Holly George-Warren

Holly George-Warren is an American music journalist, author, and editor. She is best known for her work on the Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll, which she co-authored with her husband, the late rock historian, Dave Marsh. She has also written extensively on the history of rock and roll, country music, and blues. George-Warren has written several books, including A Man Called Destruction: The Life and Music of Alex Chilton, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and Janis: Her Life and Music, which was a New York Times bestseller. She has also edited several anthologies, including The Rolling Stone Book of Women in Rock and The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock & Roll. George-Warren has been a contributing editor for Rolling Stone since 1994, and has written for many other publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. She has also appeared on television and radio programs, including NPR's All Things Considered and Fresh Air. George-Warren is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominating committee, and has served on the board of directors of the Country Music Association. She is also a member of the Americana Music Association and the American Society of Journalists and Authors.
