Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was an Indian polymath, poet, musician, and artist. He was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. Tagore wrote over 2,000 songs, including the national anthem of India, and wrote plays, novels, and short stories. He was a leader in the Indian Renaissance, advocating for independence from British rule. Tagore was a proponent of education reform and founded the Visva-Bharati University in West Bengal.
