J. M. Barrie
Sir James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) was a Scottish novelist and playwright best known for creating the beloved character Peter Pan. He was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland, and attended the University of Edinburgh. Barrie wrote a number of successful novels and plays, including The Little Minister, Quality Street, and What Every Woman Knows. His most famous work, Peter Pan, was first performed in 1904 and has since been adapted into numerous films, musicals, and other works. Barrie was knighted in 1913 for his literary contributions and was a member of the Order of Merit. He was a philanthropist, donating much of his wealth to various charities. Barrie's legacy lives on through his beloved characters and stories.
