E. M. Berens
E. M. Berens (1826-1880) was a German-born British composer and musicologist. He was born in Berlin and studied music at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He was a prolific composer, writing over 200 works, including operas, symphonies, chamber music, and songs. He was also a noted musicologist, writing several books on the history of music. He was a professor of music at the Royal Academy of Music and was a member of the Royal Philharmonic Society. He was a major influence on the development of British music in the 19th century and his works are still performed today.
