Susan Wise Bauer

Susan Wise Bauer is an American author, historian, and educator. She is best known for her series of history textbooks, The Story of the World, which has been used in homeschooling and traditional schooling environments. She is also the author of The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home, a guide to homeschooling. Bauer has written numerous other books, including The History of the Ancient World, The History of the Medieval World, and The History of the Renaissance World. She is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Virginia. Bauer is a popular speaker at homeschooling conventions and has been featured in many publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.
