Charles Yu is an American novelist, screenwriter, and lawyer. He is best known for his novel How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe, which was a finalist for the 2011 PEN Center USA Literary Award for Fiction. He has also written for the HBO series Westworld and the FX series Legion. Yu received his B.A. from Stanford University and his J.D. from Yale Law School. He has written for The New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and Slate. He is currently a senior editor at The New Republic and lives in Los Angeles.
