Humayun Azad
Humayun Azad (1947-2004) was a Bangladeshi poet, novelist, linguist, and scholar. He was a prominent figure in the Bengali literary scene and was known for his progressive and secular views. He was a fierce critic of religious fundamentalism and was an advocate for freedom of expression. He wrote several books, including the novel Pak Sar Jamin Sad Bad, which was banned in Bangladesh. He was also a professor of Bengali literature at the University of Dhaka. Azad was assassinated in 2004, and his death sparked outrage and protests across Bangladesh. He is remembered as a champion of free speech and a symbol of resistance against religious extremism.
