H. G. Parry

H. G. Parry (1902-1962) was a British historian and literary scholar. He was a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, and a professor of English at the University of Oxford. He was a leading authority on the works of William Shakespeare and the English Renaissance. He wrote several books on the subject, including The Age of Shakespeare (1951) and The Monument of Shakespeare (1955). He was also a noted scholar of the works of John Milton, and wrote a biography of the poet in 1959. Parry was a respected teacher and mentor to many students, and his influence on the study of English literature is still felt today.
