A.E. Houseman
A.E. Houseman (1859-1936) was an English poet and scholar. He is best known for his collection of poems, A Shropshire Lad, which was published in 1896. Houseman was born in Fockbury, Worcestershire, and attended Oxford University, where he studied classics. He worked as a private tutor and later as a professor of Latin at University College London. His poetry is characterized by its melancholic tone and its focus on themes of mortality, nostalgia, and the beauty of nature. Houseman's work has been widely praised for its lyrical beauty and its ability to capture the essence of rural life.
