Adam Kay

Adam Kay is a British comedian, writer, and musician. He is best known for his work as a writer and performer on BBC Radio 4's satirical comedy show The Now Show, and for his best-selling book This Is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor. Kay began his career as a medical doctor, but left the profession in 2010 to pursue a career in comedy. He has since become a regular on the UK comedy circuit, performing stand-up and musical comedy at venues across the country. He has also written for a number of television shows, including BBC Two's Mock the Week and Channel 4's 8 Out of 10 Cats. In 2017, Kay released his memoir This Is Going to Hurt, which became a Sunday Times bestseller and won the 2018 British Book Awards Book of the Year. The book is a collection of diary entries from his time as a junior doctor, and offers a unique insight into the NHS and the pressures faced by medical professionals. Kay is also a musician, and has released two albums of original songs. His debut album, Fingertips, was released in 2018 and was nominated for the 2019 Mercury Prize.
