Karen Joy Fowler
Karen Joy Fowler is an American author of science fiction, fantasy, and literary fiction. She is best known for her 2014 novel We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, which won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction and was a finalist for the Man Booker Prize. Her other works include The Jane Austen Book Club, Sister Noon, and The Sweetheart Season. Fowler has also written several short stories, including the Nebula Award-winning "What I Didn't See". She is a founding member of the James Tiptree, Jr. Award, which honors works of science fiction or fantasy that explore and expand gender roles. Fowler is a passionate advocate for animal rights and has been a vegetarian since the age of 12.
