Frances Cha

Frances Cha is a Korean-American novelist, essayist, and short story writer. She is best known for her debut novel, If I Had Your Face, which was published in 2020. The novel follows four young women living in Seoul, South Korea, and explores themes of friendship, ambition, and identity. Cha was born in South Korea and moved to the United States when she was a child. She studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and received her MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University. She has written for publications such as The New York Times, The Guardian, and The New Yorker. Cha's writing is often described as lyrical and evocative, and her work has been praised for its insight into the lives of young women in South Korea. Her writing has been compared to that of authors such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Jhumpa Lahiri. Cha is also an advocate for Asian-American representation in literature and media. She has spoken out about the need for more diverse voices in the publishing industry, and has been a vocal supporter of Asian-American authors.
