Bina Venkataraman is a scientist, engineer, and policymaker. She is currently the Director of Global Policy Initiatives at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. She is also a Senior Research Scientist at the MIT Media Lab and a Lecturer in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. Venkataraman has a PhD in Technology, Innovation, and Education from Harvard University and a BS in Biological Engineering from MIT. She has worked on a range of issues related to science, technology, and policy, including the development of new technologies, the use of data and analytics to inform policy decisions, and the role of science in society. Venkataraman is a frequent speaker and writer on these topics, and has been recognized for her work with numerous awards, including the MacArthur Fellowship.
