Hanna Alkaf

Hanna Alkaf is a Malaysian author and journalist. She is best known for her debut novel, The Weight of Our Sky, which was published in 2019. The novel is set in 1969 during the May 13 racial riots in Kuala Lumpur and follows the story of a young girl's struggle to find her mother in the midst of the chaos. Alkaf has also written for various publications, including The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Star. She is passionate about amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and is an advocate for mental health awareness. Alkaf is a graduate of the University of Oxford and currently resides in Kuala Lumpur.
