Diana Gabaldon
Diana Gabaldon is an American author best known for her Outlander series of historical novels. She has written eight books in the series, as well as several other novels, novellas, and short stories. Her books have sold over 25 million copies worldwide and have been adapted into a popular television series.
Gabaldon was born in Arizona in 1952 and grew up in Flagstaff. She earned a PhD in behavioral ecology from Northern Arizona University and worked as a university professor before becoming a full-time writer. Her first novel, Outlander, was published in 1991 and was an immediate success.
The Outlander series follows the adventures of Claire Randall, a World War II nurse who travels back in time to 18th century Scotland. The books combine elements of historical fiction, romance, and science fiction, and have been praised for their vivid characters and detailed descriptions of the time period.
Gabaldon has also written several other novels, including The Fiery Cross, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, and The Scottish Prisoner. She has also written several novellas and short stories, as well as a graphic novel. Her books have been translated into over 30 languages and have won numerous awards.
