Sophie de Mullenheim
Sophie de Mullenheim (1770-1852) was a French writer and salon hostess. She was born in Paris and was the daughter of a wealthy banker. She was educated in the arts and literature, and was a talented musician. She was a member of the French court and was a close friend of the Empress Josephine. She was also a patron of the arts, and hosted salons in her home which were attended by many of the leading intellectuals of the day. She wrote several books, including a novel, a collection of poetry, and a treatise on the education of women. Her works were widely read and admired. She was a passionate advocate for the rights of women and was a major influence on the feminist movement of the 19th century.
