Laurie Calkhoven
Laurie Calkhoven is an American author of children's books. She is best known for her historical fiction series, The War That Saved My Life, which won the Schneider Family Book Award and was a Newbery Honor Book. She has also written several other books, including the nonfiction series, Women Who Dared. Calkhoven has a degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania and has worked as a freelance writer and editor for many years. She lives in New York City with her husband and two children. Calkhoven is passionate about writing stories that inspire young readers to explore history and to think critically about the world around them.
