C. S. Lewis
Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was an Irish author and scholar best known for his works of fiction, especially The Chronicles of Narnia. He was also a noted literary critic, poet, and essayist. Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland, and educated at Oxford University. He served in the British Army during World War I and later taught at both Oxford and Cambridge. His works of fiction, which include The Screwtape Letters, The Space Trilogy, and Till We Have Faces, are known for their vivid imagination and Christian themes. Lewis was a member of the literary group known as the Inklings, which included J.R.R. Tolkien and other writers. He was also a popular speaker and broadcaster, and his works have been translated into more than 30 languages. Lewis's legacy continues to influence readers around the world.
