Kate DiCamillo is an American author of children's fiction. She is best known for her Newbery Medal-winning books The Tale of Despereaux and Flora & Ulysses. DiCamillo has written over 20 books, including the Mercy Watson series, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, and Raymie Nightingale. She has also written for the screen, including the screenplay for the movie adaptation of The Tale of Despereaux. DiCamillo is a passionate advocate for literacy and has been a National Ambassador for Young People's Literature. She is a two-time Newbery Medal winner and has been honored with numerous awards for her work.
