Michael Bond
Michael Bond is a British author best known for creating the beloved character Paddington Bear. Born in 1926, Bond began writing in 1945 while serving in the Royal Air Force. After the war, he worked as a BBC television cameraman before becoming a full-time writer in 1958. His first book, A Bear Called Paddington, was published in 1958 and has since sold over 35 million copies worldwide. Bond has written over 200 books, including the Paddington series, as well as other children’s books, adult fiction, and non-fiction. He was awarded an OBE in 1997 for his services to children’s literature. Bond continues to write and is beloved by readers of all ages.
