Abby Wambach is an American retired soccer player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and a FIFA Women's World Cup champion. Wambach played for the United States women's national soccer team from 2001 to 2015, and holds the world record for international goals scored for both female and male soccer players. She is a six-time winner of the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year award and was named the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2012. Wambach is an advocate for gender equality and LGBT rights, and is a public speaker and author. She is currently the head coach of the women's soccer team at the University of Florida.
