John Perkins

John Perkins is an American economist, author, and activist. He is best known for his books Confessions of an Economic Hit Man and The New Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, which detail his career as an economic hit man working to persuade developing countries to accept large loans for infrastructure projects that ultimately serve the interests of the U.S. and other Western powers. Perkins has also written several other books, including Hoodwinked: An Economic Hit Man Reveals Why the Global Economy IMPLODED—and What We Need to Do to Remake It. Perkins has been an outspoken critic of U.S. foreign policy and the global economic system, and has become a prominent figure in the anti-globalization movement. He has been a frequent guest on television and radio programs, and has spoken at numerous universities and conferences around the world. He is the founder of the Dream Change Coalition, an organization dedicated to creating a more sustainable and just world.
