Hubert Joly
Hubert Joly is a French-American business executive and the current executive chairman of Best Buy. He is known for his expertise in the retail industry, having held executive positions at multiple companies, including Carlson, Vivendi, and Carlson Wagonlit Travel.
Joly was born in France and attended the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines de Paris. He began his career in the French government, working in the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Finance. He then moved to the private sector, working for Vivendi and then Carlson.
At Carlson, Joly served as the president and CEO from 2008 to 2012. During his tenure, he was credited with turning around the company’s fortunes and increasing its value by more than $10 billion. He then moved to Carlson Wagonlit Travel, where he served as the president and CEO from 2012 to 2013.
In 2013, Joly was appointed as the CEO of Best Buy. He is credited with leading the company’s turnaround, which included cost-cutting measures, store closures, and a focus on customer service. Under his leadership, Best Buy’s stock price has more than tripled.
Joly is a highly respected business leader and has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Legion of Honor from the French government. He is also a member of the board of directors of several companies, including UnitedHealth Group and the Mayo Clinic.
