Jeannie Vanasco

Jeannie Vanasco is an American writer and professor. She is the author of the critically acclaimed memoir Things We Didn't Talk About When I Was a Girl, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Paris Review, and elsewhere. She is also the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the MacDowell Colony, and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. She is currently an assistant professor of creative writing at Washington University in St. Louis. Her writing focuses on topics such as trauma, mental health, and gender. She is passionate about creating a safe space for people to share their stories and experiences.
