Carrie Fisher

Carrie Fisher was an American actress, writer, and comedian best known for her iconic role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise. Born in 1956 in Beverly Hills, California, Fisher was the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds. She made her film debut in 1975's Shampoo and went on to appear in a number of other films, including The Blues Brothers, When Harry Met Sally, and The 'Burbs. Fisher's most famous role was as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy. She reprised the role in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. She also wrote several books, including Postcards from the Edge, Wishful Drinking, and The Princess Diarist. Fisher was an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness and was open about her own struggles with bipolar disorder. She passed away in 2016 at the age of 60. Her legacy lives on through her work in the Star Wars franchise and her advocacy for mental health awareness.
