Lara Prior-Palmer

Lara Prior-Palmer is a British endurance athlete and author. She is best known for winning the Mongol Derby, a 1,000-kilometer horse race across the Mongolian steppe, in 2013 at the age of 19. Prior-Palmer was the youngest and first female winner of the race. Prior-Palmer is an advocate for mental health and has spoken publicly about her own struggles with depression. She is the author of the memoir Rough Magic, which chronicles her journey to the Mongol Derby and her struggles with mental health. Prior-Palmer is also an accomplished endurance cyclist, having completed the Tour Divide, a 2,745-mile mountain bike race from Canada to Mexico, in 2017. She has also competed in the Transcontinental Race, a 4,000-kilometer race across Europe, and the Trans Am Bike Race, a 4,300-mile race across the United States. Prior-Palmer is an inspiring figure for many, having achieved incredible feats of endurance and resilience. She is a testament to the power of the human spirit and a reminder that anything is possible.
