George Packer

George Packer is an American journalist, novelist, and playwright. He is best known for his work as a staff writer for The New Yorker, where he has written extensively about American politics, foreign policy, and culture. Packer has also written several books, including The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America, which won the 2013 National Book Award for Nonfiction. His other works include The Assassins' Gate: America in Iraq, The Village of Waiting, and The Half Man. Packer is also a playwright, having written Betrayed, which was produced off-Broadway in 2008. He has received numerous awards for his work, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Lannan Literary Fellowship, and a MacArthur Fellowship. Packer is a passionate advocate for social justice and has written extensively about the struggles of the working class in America.
