Saroo Brierley

Saroo Brierley is an Indian-born Australian businessman and author who gained international recognition for his incredible story of being lost and then reunited with his family 25 years later. As a five-year-old boy in 1986, Saroo became separated from his family while riding a train in India. He eventually ended up in Calcutta, where he lived on the streets for several months before being taken in by an orphanage. After being adopted by an Australian couple, Saroo eventually settled in Hobart, Tasmania. Years later, Saroo began to search for his family using Google Earth. After months of searching, he was able to locate his hometown and eventually his family. In 2012, Saroo was reunited with his mother and siblings in India. His story was later adapted into the 2016 film Lion, which was nominated for six Academy Awards. Saroo has since become a motivational speaker and has written a memoir, A Long Way Home, about his experience. He has also established the Saroo Brierley Foundation, which works to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in India. Saroo's story is an inspiring example of the power of determination and the strength of the human spirit.
