Izzeldin Abuelaish

Izzeldin Abuelaish is a Palestinian doctor, author, and human rights activist. Born in the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, he is the first Palestinian doctor to have worked in an Israeli hospital. He is a strong advocate for peace and coexistence between Palestinians and Israelis, and has dedicated his life to promoting peace and understanding between the two sides. Abuelaish has written several books, including I Shall Not Hate, which chronicles his life story and his journey to peace. He has also founded the Daughters for Life Foundation, which provides educational opportunities for young women in the Middle East. Abuelaish has received numerous awards for his work, including the 2009 Peace Prize from the United Nations Association in Canada, the 2010 Guggenheim Fellowship, and the 2011 Olof Palme Prize. He has also been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
