Kate Mulgrew

Kate Mulgrew is an American actress best known for her roles as Captain Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager and Galina "Red" Reznikov in Orange Is the New Black. She has also appeared in numerous other television series, films, and stage productions. Mulgrew was born in Dubuque, Iowa, and began her acting career at the age of 16. She attended the Stella Adler Conservatory in New York City and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She made her Broadway debut in 1975 in the play Gemini, and her first major television role was in the soap opera Ryan's Hope in 1982. Mulgrew is known for her strong, authoritative presence and her ability to bring complex characters to life. She has won numerous awards for her performances, including a Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television for her role in Star Trek: Voyager. She has also been nominated for several Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. In addition to her acting career, Mulgrew is an advocate for women's rights and has served as a spokesperson for the National Osteoporosis Foundation. She is also an author, having written two memoirs, Born with Teeth and How to Forget.
