J. D. Vance

J.D. Vance is an American author, venture capitalist, and political commentator. He is best known for his 2016 memoir Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis, which chronicles his upbringing in the Rust Belt of Ohio and Kentucky. The book was a New York Times bestseller and was adapted into a feature film in 2020. Vance is a graduate of Ohio State University and Yale Law School. After graduating from law school, he served as a judicial clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He then worked as an investment banker and venture capitalist in Silicon Valley. Vance has become a prominent voice in American politics, particularly on issues related to the working class. He has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Atlantic, and has appeared on numerous television programs. He is a senior fellow at the conservative think tank American Enterprise Institute and a partner at the venture capital firm Revolution.
