Jenni Murray

Jenni Murray is a British journalist, broadcaster, and author. She is best known for her long-running BBC Radio 4 show Woman's Hour, which she has presented since 1987. She has also written several books, including A History of Britain in 21 Women and A Girl Called Jack. Murray was born in London in 1949 and studied English at the University of Sussex. She began her career in journalism in the 1970s, working for the BBC and various newspapers. She was the first female editor of the New Statesman in the 1980s, and has since written for a variety of publications. Murray is a passionate advocate for women's rights and gender equality. She has spoken out against sexism and discrimination in the media, and has been a vocal supporter of the #MeToo movement. She has also been a vocal critic of the UK government's austerity policies, and has spoken out against the lack of support for single mothers. Murray has been awarded an OBE for her services to broadcasting, and was made a Fellow of the Royal Television Society in 2017. She is also a patron of the charity Women's Aid, and a trustee of the Fawcett Society.
