Dav Pilkey
Dav Pilkey is an American author and illustrator of children's literature. He is best known for his Captain Underpants series, which has sold more than 80 million copies worldwide. Pilkey's books often feature humor and irreverent content, and have been praised for their ability to encourage children to read.
Pilkey was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1966. He was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD as a child, and struggled in school. He found solace in drawing and writing stories, which eventually led to his career as an author.
Pilkey's first book, World War Won, was published in 1987. Since then, he has written and illustrated over 50 books, including the popular Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot series and Dog Man series. He has also written several educational books about dyslexia and ADHD.
Pilkey has won numerous awards for his work, including the California Young Reader Medal, the Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award, and the Children's Choice Book Award. He has also been honored with the Children's Book Council's Lifetime Achievement Award.
Pilkey continues to write and illustrate books for children, and his work has been translated into more than 30 languages. He is an advocate for literacy and has donated millions of books to schools and libraries around the world.
